Tangled Lines Has Lynchburg in Knots

More than 60-percent of all homes in the city have power after the storm hit on Friday. Debbie Smith, a resident, has been taking care of her newborn grandson while living with the mess in her neighborhood.

Smith lives on Liggates Road where power lines are tangled in knots with poles broken in pieces. Appalachian Power is trying to restore service but so much work has to be done that it has to call in help from other states.

Smith says the one good thing about the power outage is that it has brought her neighborhood closer together.

NTSB Hosts Aviation Search and Rescue Operations Forum

The National Transportation Safety Board is hosting a public forum from July 17th – 18th abiout aviation search and rescue operations.

This public forum will be webcast. Participating in this public forum will be Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman, all five board members, and government and industry panelists.

These participants will discuss emerging technologies in the field of aviation search and rescue.
